The most shocking disappointment of round 1 was a home defeat of Titanes to Marineros 85-80. American forward Sydney Curry (203-2000, college: GCU) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and swingman Jonatan Bello (195-2001) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Marineros are looking forward to face Metros in Santiago in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Titanes will play on the road against Indios in San Francisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of Caneros against Metros on Wednesday night. Host Caneros were defeated by Metros in La Romana 94-77. Naturalized American forward Jordan Geronimo (198-2001, college: Maryland) nailed 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and Jhery Matos accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Eusebio Suero came up with 21 points for Caneros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metros will play against Marineros in Puerto Plata in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Caneros will play on the road against Leones in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Trahson Burrell fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Juan Rosario produced 16 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones will meet at home Caneros in the next round. Indios will play against Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
